Bravo, Nigeria!
The Minister of Information and Culture in Nigeria, Lai Mohammed, recently said that the government plans to leverage the cultural industry in the country to create jobs for people, especially the youth. At the “One Lagos Fiesta’’ at Agege Stadium, Lagos he said that they would create 365 festivals, which would mean there would be a festival every single day in one part of Nigeria. This will not only employ a lot of people, but also attract tourists to the cultural festival of their preference.
“I can assure you that by January 2016, when we will start rolling out our programmes, we will be able to mop up as many unemployed youths as possible using the cultural platform,’’ said Lai Mohammed. He also said that the Nigerian government had earmarked N500 billion in the 2016 budget to help young people who wanted to acquire skills and trade.
